Kanguva Producer Addresses Low Bookings in North India Amid Pre-Release Buzz

With *Kanguva* set for a nationwide release, director Siva and producer KE Gnanavel Raja recently spoke to the media to address concerns over reportedly low advance bookings in North India. The high-budget film, featuring Suriya in the lead role with Bobby Deol as the antagonist and Disha Patani as the female lead, has generated substantial buzz, particularly in the South. However, some media sources raised questions about the film’s bookings in North India, a critical market for a film of this scale.

A journalist questioned the filmmakers on the North Indian audience’s slower booking response for the Hindi version, given the film’s significant budget of around ₹300-350 crore. In response, producer KE Gnanavel Raja provided clarity on the booking situation, explaining, “Hindi has not opened yet. We will be opening by evening only.” Raja pointed out that many of the major multiplex chains, such as PVR, had not yet initiated bookings, which may have contributed to the perception of low demand.

His views about North India.

He added, “You feel that way because the South has more single screens and fewer multiplexes. It is reversed in North India. Tomorrow, you will tell me how good the reception is.” Raja indicated that due to the higher concentration of multiplexes in the North, the booking response would become more evident as these theaters begin selling tickets closer to release.

The film, produced by Studio Green in collaboration with UV Creations, has a runtime of 2 hours and 34 minutes. Directed by Siruthai Siva, *Kanguva* is expected to appeal to audiences with its unique storyline and action sequences, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. With Karthi rumored to make a cameo and excitement building around Suriya’s performance, the team is optimistic that once bookings open widely, *Kanguva* will draw a strong reception across India.
