Kangna’s TWMR, Salman’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan and now Mahesh Babu’s Srimanthudu – Eros scores a hat-trick of Blockbusters in 100 days
It is ‘achche din’ indeed for Eros. It is dealing with Blockbusters no less with first Tanu Weds Manu Returns and then Bajrangi Bhaijaan turning out to be All Time Blockbusters. Now it has delivered yet another biggie in a space of 100 days, what with their Telugu outing Srimanthudu taking the biggest opening down South after Baahubali. With over 100 crore coming in just one week, the Mahesh Babu starrer has turned out to be a huge success already, hence resulting in Eros continuing to make its presence felt across North and South of India, as well as overseas, and scoring a hat-trick of successes.
“The film has brought in 101.25 crore worldwide in its first week and is still bringing in audience,” informs our source, “Close on the heels of the super success of Bajrangi Bhaijaan which has netted 300 crore in India and is still counting, the super success of Srimanthudu is great news indeed for Eros.”
Though the leading global company faced disappointments like Tevar and Shamitabh at the beginning of the year, the turnaround happened with Badlapur and NH10, which were critically acclaimed as well as commercially successful. However, the real fun started when Tanu Weds Manu Returns turned into a sensational success while netting 152 crore. Now with Bajrangi Bhaijaan bringing in 315 crore already and aiming for a lifetime of at least 320 crore, the good run is continuing with Srimanthudu which is expected to be a 200 crore affair as well.
Says Sunil Lulla, Managing Director, Eros International Media Ltd said, “It’s a proud moment to associate with Mahesh Babu once again and Mythri Movie Makers for this family entertainer that has taken audiences by storm. Reports across regions continue to be extremely encouraging. The Telugu industry holds great opportunity for us and we look forward to leverage its attractive film content to strengthen our operations in South.”
With Pawan Kalyan’s Sardaar Gabbar Singh as another Telugu outing for Eros next year, guess 2016 would continue ‘achche din’ for the company.
