Kangana Ranaut All Set to Live the Historical Life of Rani Lakshmibai on Screen
Many filmmakers were inspired by Rani Lakshmibai, one of the leading figures that played a pivotal role in the rebellion of 1857 for freedom of India. An overseas production house also commenced on the project and was going to shoot in the country, but was unable to provide it a stable ground.
Several months back, highly acclaimed filmmaker Ketan Mehta also decided to make a film on Jhansi Ki Rani and things for him are now moving in rapid pace. The filmmaker is producing the film with Victory Media that is managed by a London and Los Angeles based CEO, AVT Shankardass who has earlier worked with Tomahawk Entertainment and Warner Bros as a screenwriter for five years.
Ketan Mehta has casted Kangana Ranaut for the title role and he told media that it will be an international co-production with an international cast and crew and is planning to shoot on locations of Jhansi, Varanasi and Gwalior. On questions of casting the National Award winning actress of Rani Lakshmibai, he says that the reason for casting Kangana is that she has courage, fire in her belly and a desire to excel.
Kangana is extremely excited for her role and has told the filmmaker that they need to design the action sequences and the climax well before they go on the floors. She will train in horse-riding and sword-fighting and rehearse these scenes for 10… 20… 200 days if needed, till she has perfected every move. She doesn’t want to compromise on a split or a somersault because she hasn’t had the time to prep up for it or fears injury.
The actress has promised the makers that once the film starts she won’t sign any other film till mid next year to concentrate more on the biopic. Kangana has stated that “A film like this gets made only once, no one is going to make it again. Since it’s come to us, we have to do complete justice to it. I can’t hope to go beyond this script; this film could well be the climax in my acting career so I’m going to give it the time it deserves”.
Kangana wants to train with the horse which will play Badal who helped the warrior queen escape from the fort but didn’t survive the ride
