‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ starring Kangana Ranaut, R Madhavan has garnered appreciation from the audience across all quarters and broken many records in the last fortnight. The film directed by Anand L Rai was the first film of 2015 to cross the coveted 100 crore mark, within 11 days of its release. The film which received an overwhelming response saw a collection of Rs. 38,15,00,000 (all India NBOC) in the first weekend. The movie which had a good word of mouth brought back audiences into theatres in huge numbers.
‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, the latest crowd pleaser from director Zoya Akhtar was the most-anticipated movie this year. The film failed to cash in on its multi-star cast as well as the huge hype created around it. It opened to a decent response at the box office, managing to bring in Rs 37,03,00,000 over the weekend.
Interestingly, the figure is very close to what its predecessor ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ collected over the weekend. Zoya’s film had many big names like Anil, Shefali, Ranveer, Priyanka, Farhan and Anushka. However Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan’s ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ got a better weekend collection and it still reigns supreme! Anand Rai’s film as of now is on top in terms of the higest weekend collection of 2015.
