Abhishek Varman directorial period-drama Kalank released this week and the movie opened big. The star power of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt helped the movie opened big registering highest opening figure of 2019. However, the bad reviews and several memes on Twitter are showing its effect, as the movie dropped massively.
Kalank opened big and earned Rs. 21.6 Crore on the first day, which was pretty obvious if we look at the grand scale and star cast. The partial holiday of Mahavir Jayanti also helped the movie registered the biggest opening for 2019. However, it seems that the movie will have a tough time sustaining ahead.
Kalank earned Rs. 11.45 Crore on Day 2 taking its total to Rs. 33.05 Crore.
Revealing the same, trade analyst Taran Adarsh Tweeted, “#Kalank has a fall on Day 2… A decline was on the cards, but the drop is much higher than expected… Will be interesting to see how it fares on Day 3 [#GoodFriday]… Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr. Total: ₹ 33.05 cr. India biz.”

Kalank needs to show some good growth in coming days if it has any chance to emerge a big hit. The movie will get a boost on Friday, as it is also a partial holiday.
Set in pre-independent era, Kalank features Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles.
