Jagga Jasoos First Weekend Collection

Jagga Jasoos released on Friday i.e 14th July 2017 and it had an average opening. On its first day, the movie earned Rs 8.57 crore at the box office. But in its first weekend, it showed a fair growth at the box office. Over the weekend the movie raked in Rs 33.17 crore which is not a bad collection. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#JaggaJasoos had ₹ 33 cr+ opening weekend, witnessing growth on Sat and Sun… Plexes of metros contributed largely to the biz…Weekdays are crucial for #JaggaJasoos… High costs + mix word of mouth are deterrents… Has to score on weekdays + Weekend 2 to sustain. #JaggaJasoos Fri 8.57 cr, Sat 11.53 cr, Sun 13.07 cr. Total: ₹ 33.17 cr. India biz.”

After much hard work and efforts, the movie finally released after almost four years and it got mixed reviews from the audiences as well as critics. It had 30% growth in the collection on its second day. The movie was made on a budget of Rs 110 crore and if the collection goes on like this, then it is likely to recover the production cost.

Talking about the cost of production trade expert Girish Johar said, “Makers could have cut the cost of production by 50%. If the film wouldn’t have been delayed, Jagga Jasoos would have a cake walk at the box office. The film is getting a lot of traction from children and families.’’

Also, a source revealed, “The film should have been made in Rs 50-60 crore. The film was also shot multiple times. Ranbir Kapoor and Anurag Basu didn’t have a script in hand and they were shooting the film on Anurag’s instinct. There was also an entire song shot on Govinda. That track was also reshot and eventually taken out. All this must have increased the budget.’’

The movie left behind Baahubali 2 in Pakistan. Baahubali 2 earned Rs 69 lakhs whereas Jagga Jasoos collected Rs 73 lakhs at the Pakistani box office.
