Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway, directed by Ashima Chibber of Mere Dad Ki Maruti fame, is about a mother’s war against a whole country.
Rani Mukerji had left India in August 2021 for an international location, which was later revealed to be Estonia, to begin filming her next film, Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway. In Estonia, she completed the first schedule of her film. Norway was the original preference of producer Nikkhil Advani and the filmmaker, who wanted the film to be as authentic to the source material as possible. However, obtaining visas for the team proved to be a difficult issue in the current circumstances, and they did not want to wait too long because the film is known to be a prep-intensive production. The entire cast and crew shot in a bio bubble with all necessary precautions, following the Covid-19 safety guidelines. The film’s final schedule was anticipated to begin filming in India soon.
On Rani Mukerji’s 43rd birthday, Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway was announced. The shoot was recently completed. The wrap was announced via an Instagram post which was captioned as ”And, it’s a wrap already!🎬 Feels like we had just started shooting for #MrsChatterjeeVsNorway. We can’t wait for the film to hit the theatres now! 📽️”.
Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway is based on the true story of an Indian couple’s child who was taken away by Norwegian welfare authorities in 2011. In a statement regarding the film, Rani Mukerji remarked, “Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway is a story of true human resilience, and it is a film that is dedicated to all the mothers out there. It is truly one of the most amazing scripts that I have read in a long time, and I immediately decided to do this special film.”
Rani has also completed filming for ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2‘ alongside Saif Ali Khan, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Sharvari Wagh. Its release date has yet to be determined.
