It is not about being a star kid but about being my mother’s daughter: Sara Ali Khan

Every time a star makes a Bollywood debut, he/she is categorized as ‘nepotism product’. The recent debutantes like Janhavi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter have faced severe backslash during their release. Now Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter- Sara is all set for the release of her debut movie- Kedarnath in which she will be sharing screen space with Sushant Singh Rajput.

Recently in an interview Sara Ali Khan revealed that at the age of four, she wished to be a heroine. After graduating from Columbia University, being actress was only thing that she wanted in her life. “When you are four and you dream of becoming a heroine, then it is a different thing. We don’t really know what we want at that age. You grow up and when you are eight, you see movies, and you feel more sure about it,” said Sara.

“Then you go to Columbia university, spend your father’s money and come back with a degree and if you still want to be an actor, then it is not a hobby, it is your passion. There is a different intensity and seriousness to it. You start preparing after that,” Sara told PTI in an interview.

After Kedarnath’s trailer was released, many said that Sara is a xerox copy of Amrita. In conversation with PTI, Sara gave full credit to her mother- Amrita Singh for making her what she is today. Actress also added that she don’t want to be known as a star kid. She just wish to be known as her mother’s daughter.

My mother is a huge part of who I am. I look up to her a lot. It is not necessarily about being a star kid but about being her daughter. She has always led her life in a very simple and real way. And she has tried to imbibe these qualities in both me and my brother. And it is not because she has been an actor but because even before she became an actor, she was this ‘bindaas’ and honest person. I have lived with her for 23 years, so I hope some of it has rubbed off me,” she said.

All the best Sara for Kedarnath. Stay tuned with us for more Bollywood news and updates.
