The Real Story Behind The Iconic Dialogue From Mr. India, “Mogambo Khush Hua”

Amrish Puri is one actor who will stay in our thoughts forever even when he cannot be physically present. Amrish Puri was the one who would take away all the limelight if he is there in the frame.

Anil Kapoor certainly charmed everyone in the film Mr. India, Mogambo’s dialogue “Mogambo Khush Hua”. There is no one who is not an Amrish Puri fan. But if you haven’t used his most famous dialogue ‘Ja Simran ja, jee le apni zindagi’ once in your life, are you even a cinema fan?

Mogambo is easily one of the most renowned Bollywood villains and no one but Amrish Puri could have pulled off the character with so much perfection. “Mogambo khush hua” with that devilish smirk still sends down chills amongst crowds.

Years may have passed by, but these dialogue remains as iconic as ever and people still refer to it from time to time.

Javed Akhtar must be credited for creating two of the most iconic villains in the history of Hindi cinema, that is gabbar Singh and Mogambo.

The interesting story behind the dialogue is that, one day when director Shekhar Kapoor asked Javed Akhtar about his progress with the character. Akhtar remained silent for a moment before uttering the dialogue, “Mogambo khush hua.”

Shekhar Kapoor did not understand the significance back then and thought there must be more to character than just a simple dialogue.

Puri’s talent which really who added the X- factor to the dialogue. The character Mogambo is almost perfect as it checks out every essential for being a great villain: devilishness, wacky dressing, a good back story and a desire to rule the world!
