Has Shah Rukh Khan said yes to film with Imtiaz Ali? - Filmymantra

Has Shah Rukh Khan said yes to film with Imtiaz Ali?

We hope it’s true! It will be refreshing to see SRK do a film from Imtiaz’s romantic genre that is almost spiritual.

During the time of the release of his film Tamasha, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, director Imtiaz Ali had expressed his desire to work with superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Apparently, he had also approached the actor with a script. But SRK at the time was busy with his Rohit Shetty Dilwale, and had begun work on Rahul Dholakia’s Raees and Maneesh Sharma’s FAN that is being made by Yash Raj Films. The buzz says that SRK had refused the film with Imtiaz, as he was not happy with the script. But looks like Imtiaz has reworked the story of the film he was pitching to SRK, or presented an entirely new story to him. And Shah Rukh has reportedly said ‘Yes’ to Imtiaz this time.

Filmymantra had reported that Shah Rukh is doing a film with Rangoon director Vishal Bhardwaj, and also that he needs to work on fresher subjects after the debacle of Dilwale in the critics’ eyes. In fact, so unhappy is Shah Rukh with Dilwale‘s India box office collections that he has refunded around 50 percent of the amount to distributors!

Seeing the scenario, SRK certainly needs to work with filmmakers who have done well in the past with engaging cinema. Vishal is one, and Imtiaz could be another. Although Tamasha did not do well, all of Imtiaz’s films have struck a chord with the audience. And that’s what SRK needs right now, post Dilwale. These two directors can definitely give him good films.

Meanwhile, Imtiaz has planned a film Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The two are apparently dating (and hence the brief break-up with Katrina Kaif) and also doing a film together with Ayan Mukerji. We hope the SRK film with Imtiaz also works out fine! It will be refreshing to see him do a film from Imtiaz’s romantic genre that is almost spiritual.
Now all we can do is wait for an official announcement from SRK or Imtiaz!
