Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul’s suspensions lifted by BCCI with immediate effect

After making inappropriate remarks on women on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan, Hardik Pandya and were suspended from the Indian team and were sent home from the tour of Australia. On Thursday, Committee of Administrators (CoA) lifted the suspension on Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. The acting BCCI president CK Khanna had urged the CoA to lift the suspension on Pandya and KL Rahul.

In his statement he said that, “The Indian senior team as well as the Emerging, A teams and U-19s will have behavioral counselling session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The course will deal with every aspect of a professional sportsperson’s life. There will also be sessions on gender sensitivity.”

A statement from the BCCI read: “Hardik Pandya will be sent to New Zealand to join the team at the earliest and KL Rahul will join the India A squad to play the last 3 one-day games against England Lions.” Few reports also suggest that Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul will be the part of World Cup squad.

BCCI in its statement said, “The above matter and decision has been taken with the concurrence of the Learned Amicus Curiae, Mr. P.S. Narasimha. In view of the above, the suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 is immediately lifted pending appointment and adjudication of the allegations by the BCCI Ombudsman.”
