Happy Birthday Bob Odenkirk: Reflecting on How His 2021 Heart Attack Changed His Life

Bob Odenkirk, known for his standout performances in *Better Call Saul*, *Nobody*, and more, celebrates his 62nd birthday on October 22, 2024. As he marks this milestone, it’s worth revisiting how a life-threatening heart attack in 2021 altered his perspective on life and career.

In March 2023, Odenkirk candidly discussed the impact of his heart attack during an interview with *PEOPLE*. Reflecting on the event, he admitted, “I’m still coming to terms with it.” The heart attack occurred while filming *Better Call Saul*, during scenes as his character Saul Goodman. Odenkirk had no memory of the incident, but he was rushed to a hospital in Albuquerque, where his life was saved.

The *Breaking Bad* star revealed how deeply touched he was by the outpouring of support from fans and colleagues. “Saul isn’t a particularly good person,” Odenkirk joked. “But it was extremely touching, and I can only be appreciative of it and try to make something good come from it.” He emphasized how the prayers and well-wishes from so many people gave him strength during his recovery.

Odenkirk, who also voiced Winston Deavor in *Incredibles 2* and stars in *Lucky Hank*, reflected on the importance of his family during this life-altering moment. He expressed his deep love for his wife, comedy manager Naomi Odenkirk, and their children, Nate and Erin. His family’s support helped him through the health crisis, reinforcing his commitment to being present and cherishing the moments they share.

During the interview, the *Little Women* actor spoke about his renewed focus on living in the present and slowing down to enjoy life’s experiences. He noted that constantly moving from one project to another often robs people of the joy of the moment.

As Odenkirk moves forward, healthier and more grounded, fans eagerly await more of his incredible work. His portrayal of Saul Goodman remains one of his most iconic roles, and his journey continues to inspire.
