Furious 7 has become the first Hollywood movie in India to gross Rs 100 crore in record time, Universal India said in a release.
The 7th installment of the franchise, which marked late Paul Walker’s last silver screen appearance, took the highest opening weekend collection and has now grossed 100 crores in 2800 screens across the country.
Furious 7 stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham and Michelle Rodriguez in lead roles. The movie was released in 2D, 3D and IMAX format on April 2 in India.
“Furious 7‘s fastest 100 crore box office collection was due to the fact that it had the widest release in over 2800 screens in India. There’s a vast potential for Hollywood movies in the regions beyond the metros and mini-metros in India,” said Sarabjit Singh, General Manager, Universal Pictures India.
Jurassic World, the latest installment of the Jurassic Park series, from Universal Pictures India, is the next release in India. The movie will hit the theatres in June in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
