Hima Das, the 18-year-old champ of Assam created history by becoming the first Indian woman to bag a gold medal at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships. She topped the women’s 400 m final race clocking 51. 46 seconds beating Andrea Miklos of Romania and Taylor Manson of the United States. Before her, no Indian ever won a medal in the IAAF’s Under-20 athletics event. That was the proud moment for all the Indians and why not? Hima has become the national pride.Now the teen sensation has won the silver medal in the final of the 400m race at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta on Sunday, with a time of 50. 79 seconds. Naser Salwa of Bahrain broke her own Games Record and tool take gold with a time of 50.09 seconds. The previous National Record was set by Manjit Kaur (51.05s) in Chennai in 2004. Hima herself broke the National Record after years.Hima said, “There is huge pressure and I feel it just before going onto the track that I may not be able to do it. But once I am on the track, it all recedes away.”

Dutee Chand grabbed the silver medal in women’s 100m race.
