For The First Time In 12 Years, Not A Single Khan Made It To Top 3 Spots At Box Office Highest Grosser

It won’t be wrong to say that 2018 was not a good year for Khans of Bollywood. They would simply like to forget this year and move on. Salman Khan Starrer Race 3 was brutally trolled by netizens, all thanks to lack of storyline and cringe-worthy dialogue. The movie also failed to perform at the box office and ended up earning just Rs. 166.40 Crore, which is pretty low for a Salman Khan film.

Then came highly anticipated Thugs of Hindostan featuring Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan. It was the costliest film ever made in Bollywood, but it failed miserably to impress anyone including the audience. The movie was so bad that even Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t save it. In the end, the movie ended with lifetime business of Rs. 151.19 Crore and declared as a disaster.

However, the worst film of the Khans came in the form of Zero. Fans and critics had so much expectation from the film, after all, it has some of the best minds of Bollywood involved. However, it ended up biggest disappointment, as it ended with lifetime business of just Rs. 88.85 Crore in India. The movie didn’t even make it to 100 Crore club, which is sad on so many levels.

With this, Bollywood Khans have created a record they would have never wanted. It is the first time in the history of Indian box office that no films starring Khans are among the top three grosser of the year. They lost their position to Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. With Rs. 342.53 Crore, Sanju is the highest grosser of the year followed by Padmaavat (Rs. 302.15 Crore) at the second spot. The third place is secured by Simmba (173.15 Crore), which is still running successfully at the box office.

Last time it happened was in 2006 when top three spots were grabbed by Dhoom 2 (Rs. 81 Crore), Lage Raho Munna Bhai (Rs. 75 Crore) and Krrish (Rs. 72 Crore).
