FLASHBACK: Kamal Haasan’s Harsdhips During ‘Vishwaroopam’

‘Vishwaroopam 2’ is all set to hit the screens worldwide on 10th August. It has been a five years gap and Kamal Haasan has yet again come with the most awaited sequel. There are only three days left for the release of this big budget movie, and before that let’s take you five years back when Kamal Haasan faced lots of controversies and hardships for his movie.Under his own banner Raajkamal Films International, Kamal Haasan commenced ‘Vishwaroopam’. Filmmaker Selvaraghavan was initially taken on board to direct the film but he backed out due to creative differences. After that Haasan decided to direct the movie and it was made on a whopping budget of Rs 96 crore.

Kamal Haasan left no stone unturned to promote ‘Vishwaroopam’. The trailer of this magnum opus received an outstanding response from the public. He also promoted the film in overseas market as well. Barry Osborne, the producer of ‘The Lord of The Rings’ applauded the movie that led to more hype of ‘Vishwaroopam’.Kamal Haasan then landed in another controversy after he planned to release ‘Vishwaroopam’ in the DTH platform. The movie is about world politics and terrorism. Theatre owners protested against it. It was banned across Tamil Nadu a day ahead of its release. It was also banned in the overseas market and Haasan incurred heavy losses of around Rs 60 crore. The then-ruling state government imposed a ban on ‘Vishwaroopam’.

Finally, it released on February 7, 2013, and from audiences to critics, everyone appreciated Haasan’s performance and screenplay. It minted over Rs 220 crore worldwide.Vishwaroopam 2 is also directed, produced, and written by Mr. Kamal Haasan. The Hindi version of this bilingual is presented by Rohit Shetty and Reliance Entertainment.
