Farida Jalal Is NOT Dead!
Remember the affable veteran actress who was often seen in Karan Johar movies as either Shah Rukh Khan or Kajol’s mother? Once a heroine, too, the beautiful Farida Jalal is a face that not many can forget. Add to that her charming acting. Bollywood fans were in for a rude shock when a news started circulating on WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media that Farida Jalal is DEAD! Condolences began pouring in and there were obituaries written, some being written and published as we speak, but the real news is that FARIDA JALAL is NOT DEAD!
After Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Yo Yo Honey Singh, another veteran actress became a victim of a death hoax after a message of the Farida Jalal passing away went viral on social networking site.
On Sunday, news of Farida Jalal’s death spread like wild fire on social networking sites.
When contacted Farida affirmed,
“I am hale and hearty.”
The actress, who will be soon seen playing a prominent role of a Kashmiri woman in Imran Khan’s upcoming film ‘Sargoshiyan’ further added,
“I don’t know from where these baseless rumours are coming from. Initially I laughed, but from last 30 mins my phone have been constantly ringing and everybody is asking the same question. It’s a bit irritating, I wonder why people spread such rumours.”
Born on March 14, 1949 in New Delhi, Jalal has worked in more than two-hundred Bollywood films, apart from Telugu, Tamil and English-language film and Indian television. She is popularly known for playing Jiya’s Nani in the Indian television show ‘Shararat’.
She had won Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress in Paras (1971), Henna (1991) and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995).
Social media is too quick with reactions and this is the best example of this statement. People must bother to cross check the news twice before they start posting. Even if one user posts it, the news goes super-viral and 100 other people start spreading. Social media platforms must be used carefully; don’t believe everything you see. THINK & POST!
