“Eye pleasing moments are there in Calendar Girls” – Avani Modi on the film’s glamour quotient

It is all happening for Madhur Bhandarkar and his team of Calendar Girls. With the film set to release tomorrow, the team has gone ahead and promoted the film at every possible media platform. As the film gets set for release tomorrow, we get chatting with Avani Modi, who is showing no signs of exhaustion despite a six week long promotional campaign that has seen her traveling extensively across the country.
Considering the fact that the film is high on glamour quotient, guess Bollywood can well brace up for a stunning leading lady on screen pretty soon.

“Yes, the film is high on glamour, but then it is also super high in terms of performance,” says Avani, “The film is full of emotions and it has quite a few ups and downs in the narrative that would keep you glued to the seats. Of course there are eye pleasing moments out there, considering the fact that the film is about Calendar Girls. However, the film goes much beyond that. It has that quintessential Madhur Bandarkar stamp to it.”

While Madhur took care of things from the presentation perspective, it is also a known fact that he is a stickler for perfection. Did it ever become a little too overwhelming for Avani to get it right in front of the camera?

“Of course it was overwhelming to be working with Madhurji. He has been such a senior and seasoned director. He has worked with the best of the actresses. Tabu, Priyanka, Raveena, Konkona, Kareena – they are great actresses,” says Avani, “Madhurji helped me to learn the craft of acting in a better way. I could catch hold of the nuances of acting. First he gets on the same page with you and only after then does he begin to call the shots as a director. Though he has worked with the best, he doesn’t come with that baggage. Madhurji is so experienced and knows how to get work done from a newcomer.”

Now that should be something to watch out for this Friday.
