Director Rumi Jaffery reaches ED office; Asked DEETS about contract with Sushant Singh
As the Enforcement Directorate is also investigating Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case in respect to money related matter under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the regency on Thursday has summoned filmmaker Rumi Jaffery to record his statement at its Mumbai office as the latter was making a movie starring the late actor Sushant along with his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, who is also the prime accused in this alleged suicide case.
On August 19, the top ED official had stated, “We have summoned Jaffery to record his statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) tomorrow.”
As per recent development, the filmmaker of Shushant’s upcoming project, Jaffery has reached the ED Mumbai office in Mumbai, and is likely to be quizzed about the project details casting Sushant and Rhea and his bank transactions too. The ED will also interrogate Jaffery over details of his contract with Rajput, if he paid any fee to the late actor, if he initiated any advance payment or a signing amount to the actor, if any contract was made then what was the mode of advance payment, records of who was going to finance his film with SSR, if Rhea was paid the advance amount and lastly, did Rhea decided on Sushant’s behalf or had the actress put forth any condition like she will do the film only if Sushant is in the lead?
As on many occasions Jaffery has claimed that he was going to make a film featuring Sushant Singh Rajput and his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty in lead roles and in his statement to Mumbai police, Rumi had also revealed to offer Sushant Rs 15 crores for the film which was to start once the lockdown was over. However, with Sushant’s death, he claims to have shelved the movie.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate has come to the conclusion that the late actor was not in any financial crisis and neither was he struggling to find work. As per reports, in 2 to 3 years Sushant had earned anything between Rs 30 to Rs 35 crore.
Up till now ED has interrogated several people in the case including Rhea, her brother Showik, her father Indrojit, Sushant’s house manager Samuel Miranda, his ex-manager Shruti Modi, his personal staff Ritesh Mewati and Dipesh Sawant, Sushant’s sister Meetu Singh, his CA Sandeep Sridhar, Rhea’s CA Ritesh Shah among others.
