Diljit Dosanjh was born on 6 January 1984 in Dosanjh Kalan in Punjab. He was born in a traditional Sikh family with his father working in Punjab Railways. He has two siblings. He was always close to Punjabi folk music and theatres. Diljit’s talent for music and acting developed in his young age itself. He had his formal education in Ludhiana. As his first passion was music, Diljit brought out albums and music videos showcasing his talent. Many of his works were super hits and got very popular with the ordinary listeners of Punjab. His voice suited Punjabi folk while it also had a touch of western vocals.
After his series of singles and duets with accomplished Punjabi singers, Diljit Dosanjh got offers from Punjabi films that put him on a new ladder of fame. The 33 years old actor started his acting career with the film The Lion of Punjab in 2011. Thereon he did many popular films such as Jatt & Juliet, Disco Singh, Sardaarji and Punjab 1984. In his career span of eight years, Diljit has won many awards including Punjabi International Film Academy Awards and PTC Punjabi Film Awards.
Diljit’s entry into Bollywood films has fetched him much popularity. He played a pivotal role in the film Udta Punjab for which he won Filmfare Best debut award. In 2017, he will be seen in the film Phillauri and later in Kaneda.
