Dhoni FINED 50 Percent Of His Match Fee For Storming Into The Field And Arguing With Umpires

Yesterday IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals was filled with high-octane drama. The match witnesses something no one would have ever thought, captain cool MS Dhoni, who is known for keeping his calm absolutely lost it. Miffed MSD stormed into the field and started arguing with umpires giving one of the most controversial moments in the history of cricket. However, CSK Skipper escaped a ban and was let off with a fine of 50 percent of his match fee.

The match between RR and CSK was a thriller in every sense. CSK needed 18 runs off last over bowled by English all-rounder Ben Stokes. Ravindra Jadeja smashed a six in the first ball leaving CSK needing for only 12 runs in final five balls. However, Dhoni was bowled by Stokes on the third ball with an absolute Yorker. Now, CSK needed 8 off 3 balls.

The biggest drama was yet to come. While bowling 4th ball of the over, Ben Stokes missed the slower ball making it a full toss. It is then straight umpire signaled for no-ball, whereas square leg umpire overruled it.  Jadeja confronted with the umpires asking for no-ball, but nothing happened. Amidst all this, a miffed MSD stormed into the field and started arguing with umpires. After much of angry reactions from Dhoni, umpire Bruce Oxenford managed to send Dhoni back to the dug-out. However, anger was clearly seen at Dhoni’s face.

Had the no-ball was given, CSK would have won the match way before. But it went down the wire and CSK won in last over.

Now, BCCI has stated, “MS Dhoni captain of Chennai Super Kings was fined a 50 per cent of his match salary for breaching the code of conduct of VIVO IPL during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals.  Dhoni acknowledged to the level 2 offence 2.20 IPL Code of conduct and has accepted the penalty”
