After much ado, we now finally know that Deepika Padukone will star in Sanjay Leela Bhansaliās Padmavati.
SLB was considering either Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra for the part, but Deepika was his final choice and will be her third film with the filmmaker. If rumours are anything to go by, Padmavati will be a saga about forbidden love. Bhansaliās muse Ranveer Singh will also be a part of the film.
The news was leaked by Shreyas Puranik, who has worked with SLB on the music of his previous films as well. Ever since the news was made public, his Twitter account has been deleted. It isnāt unlikely that Sanjay Leela Bhansali gave Puranik a rather hard time about it. The film will begin production in September, with an extended shooting schedule across India.
It is speculated to release on 15 December 2017.
