Since the time Alia stepped into the glamorous world of Bollywood, she fell prey to the cliches of negative publicity. She has been linked to almost all her co-stars, before or after the film’s release. During ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ she was linked with Varun Dhawan while during ‘2 States’ rumours were abuzz that she is dating Arjun Kapoor. These link-up stories then culminated into heartbreaking stories which provided a lot of controversial content for the gossip mongers to munch on. As of now, Alia is being paired with Sidharth Malhotra who featured with her in her latest release ‘Kapoor & Sons’.
SAIFAI MAHOTSAV CONTROVERSY
Alia Bhatt along with other Bollywood stalwarts like Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Varun Dhawan and more came into limelight when they performed at the Saifai Mahotsav. Celebrities were criticised for carrying out such an extravagant act at a location close to Muzzafarnagar where people were badly hit by riots. To this, Alia came to her defence and said, “We are not sadistic who went to Saifai, and felt happy about those who were suffering! But I don’t want to stretch this topic too much because I feel, it is kind of over. I just think that it isn’t fair to call us inhuman.”
“KOFFEE WITH KARAN” DEBACLE
Out of all the episodes of Karan Johar’s celebrity chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’, the episode featuring Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan will remain everyone’s favourite. Alia’s hilarious answer to Karan’s question on who is the President of India, left everyone in splits. She named Prithviraj Chavan as the President and we bet that she would regret this day all through her life. She was then termed as beauty without brains and was trolled on social media for a very long time.
The AIB Knockout episode featuring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor and Karan Johar, was one attention calling episode which kept everyone at the edge of their seats, all thanks to the dreadful humour of the show. It not only called for trouble for the participants, but also celebrities seated in the audience, like Deepika Padukone, Sonakshi Sinha and Alia Bhatt. In fact, an FIR was filed against these celebrities and an arrest warrant was issued against them. To this, Alia’s father Mahesh Bhatt had raised a question as to why Sonakshi’s name is missing from the FIR referring to her father’s political background.
A music lover by nature, Alia Bhatt shared her playlist with her fans on social media. She posted a screenshot of the song she was listening to, but little did she know that she is calling for trouble. The picture that she posted had a website URL which is illegal in India and hence, people started criticizing her for piracy. Though a lot of her fans came to her rescue but she received a good lecture on moral policing.
