Chetan Bhagat Shows His Anger On Delhi Firecracker Ban, Created New Controversy
People will have to celebrate Diwali in Delhi without firecrackers, all thanks to Supreme Court judgment of banning Firecrackers till November 1st. It was pretty necessary if we take accounts of air pollution in the NCR. People have been complaining about the air quality in Delhi for a very long time. The pollution level of the city was the worst in 10 years on last Diwali.
Last year after Diwali, Delhiites were complaining about almost no visibility. According to reports of leading daily, the air pollution level in the capital city was in between 450 and 500. FYI, air pollution is categorized as severe if its level comes in between 400 and 500. That point of time, people can’t even see the skyscrapers. This was the level of pollution a day after Diwali last year.
Considering all these thinks, Supreme Court has put a complete ban on the sale of firecrackers. This judgment has received mix response from the people. Some are appreciating the move, then some are criticizing it for various reasons. But the whole situation took another turn when Chetan Bhagat Tweeted about the same.

SC bans fireworks on Diwali? A full ban? What’s Diwali for children without crackers?
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) October 9, 2017
Can I just ask on cracker ban. Why only guts to do this for Hindu festivals? Banning goat sacrifice and Muharram bloodshed soon too?
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) October 9, 2017
Banning crackers on Diwali is like banning Christmas trees on Christmas and goats on Bakr-Eid. Regulate. Don’t ban. Respect traditions.

आज अपने ही देश में, उन्होंने बच्चों के हाथ से फुलझड़ी भी छीन ली। हैपी दिवाली मेरे दोस्त।

When they can’t logically argue with you. They resort to personal attacks. Usually means you have won. Stay positive. Always. https://t.co/F5NwmgYREz

Bhagat sent her this reply
Diwali one day a year is causing disorders? Or unchecked polluters who pollute everyday? https://t.co/zbv4wMqDje
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) October 9, 2017
He even gave a communal Twist to whole debate
I want to see people who fight to remove crackers for Diwali show the same passion in reforming other festivals full of blood and gore.
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) October 9, 2017
If you care turn off electricity in your house for a week and don’t use cars. On what basis are you imposing a ban on someone’s traditions?
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) October 9, 2017
He again got into fight with this lady
False equivalence. Bursting crackers has nothing to do with the Diwali tradition. The very word 'Diwali' means 'light'. Lighting diyas=Diwali https://t.co/Lmsu45fAXV

So you are going to decide for everyone? Ban whatever doesn’t suit your style? https://t.co/1aUPOrC9wa
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) October 9, 2017
Even Shashi Tharoor couldn’t hold back.
Your examples of practices integral to those observances; banning them would be like banning lamps onDiwali. Firecrackers are unholy add-ons
— Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) October 9, 2017
Diwali is 1 day, 0.27% of year. pollution comes from 99.6% days of poor planning and regulation. Fix that. Not make 1 religion feel guilty.

You are right, but see last year Govt had to declare emergency, schools-offices were shut down. It's extremely toxic condition. pic.twitter.com/wYmy5QtzSV

I have a right to have my opinions. If all you can do is give hate, threats and personal attacks in response, reflects more on u.
— Chetan Bhagat (@chetan_bhagat) October 9, 2017
This whole incident has been turned into communal by some well known author. it is really sad. We should find positivity in the decision and stop trying to turn everything into Hindu and Muslim.
