Bollywood upcoming movie ‘Udta Punjab’ is one of those rare movies that gets the popularity in both positive and negative ways. The bold subject of the film has really well received by fans but the Censor Board is in no mood to clear the film for a release. At Latest, Censor Board of Film Certification demands 40 cuts for the movie.
If Udta Punjab is on your watch list for the next month then it’s a sad news for you. Censor Board has denied giving the certificate for the movie. The makers were sure that they will get the A Certificate by the Censor Team but it looks like the film might get halted for the released. As the Censor Board demands a heavy cut for the movie including one of its song.
According to the latest report by DNA, “The producer Anurag Kashyap went straight to the Tribunal in the hope of a hasty clearance with nominal cuts. Alternatively, the Minister of Information & Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore has also been approached to clear the film with an ‘A’ certificate, sans cuts.”
Well, the makers have remained silent to speak about the film’s current situation but this is not a good news for the film. There may be various reasons why the film is not getting the certificate. The first reason could be the bold subject of Drug Trafficking. The other big reason could be the upcoming elections in Punjab next year as Drug addiction is one of the main issues in the state.
The ruling party in Punjab ‘Shiromani Akali Dal’ has already opposed the movie since its trailer release. Now, it’s a tough time for the makers and the star cast to get the certificate for the movie with the minimal cuts. The film was scheduled to release on June 17.
