CBFC Passed Padmavati With Title Change And 26 Cuts, Twitter Is Trolling The New Title Mercilessly
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati is literally the most controversial film ever made in Bollywood. The movie faced huge problems before it releases. However, there is a big news for the moviegoers. CBFC has passed the movie with U/A certificate. The censor board has suggested a slight change in title. The movie will be released as ‘Padmavat’ instead of ‘Padmavati’.
Deepika Padukone’s film has got U/A certificate, which means it can be watched by all age groups. The children under 12 will have to watch the movie with parental guidance.
The CBFC has also suggested 26 cuts to the film. The makers will have to show a disclaimer at the start and after the interval, stating that the movie is a work of fiction and bears no connection with any historical figure. It will also give a clarification on the highly controversial song ‘Ghoomar’.
To those who came late, Padmavati landed in huge troubles ever since the shooting has started. Some groups vandalized the set and also manhandled director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. However, the makers were able to finish the shooting and released the trailer. The movie was also scheduled to release on 1st December. However, the protests by Karni Sena forced the makers to postpone the film. The protest was increasing with every passing day. Some Rajput royal house also got offended when first song Ghoomar released. These groups were furious as they thought that a dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Allauddin Khilji is in the movie.
These protests took a violent turn in no time. Protests became so lethal that a bounty was announced on the head of Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Some Rajput leader warned Deepika of chopping her nose.
However, after much drama and chaos, CBFC has passed the movie. The censor board brought some historians from Jaipur and showed the film to them before giving a certification.
In the meantime, it doesn’t look that all the problems for the film have been sorted out. The leaders of Karni Sena have once again said that they won’t let the film release at any cost. The good news is that it has gone passed one hurdle at least. We wonder what will happen later when it releases.
The title change has not gone down well with Twitterati. Twitter is trolling the new title of the film. Check out some selected tweets right here:
So the jokers at CBFC have passed Padmavati and in the process also changed its name to Padmavat? Was this the cerebral contribution of the House of MEWAR or some other silly blokes? Slowly we are seeing imbeciles taking decisions!

Padmavati – Title changed- Padmavat. Now it's not based on Queen Padmavati s life.
The filmmakers must run in big letters that this film is not based on Queen Padmavati life neither inspired from her life but is totally completely fictious.- Guru Shri Jinesh. pic.twitter.com/pOJ368Z2WS— Janraaj Party Bharat (@JanraajParty) December 30, 2017
