The buddy cop action-drama “Dishoom” starring John Abraham and Varun Dhawan got a good opening on its first day which should come to a good news especially for John Abraham whose last film “Rocky Handsome” opened with Rs 5.19 crores.
Opening in 3000 screens pan India, “Dishoom” got off to good reviews with some critics giving thumbs up to John Abraham and Varun Dhawan for pulling the film together inspite of the predictable storyline. As per early trade estimate, the action-drama opened to around 11 crores which are fairly lower than what was being expected. The collections were also low as compared to Sajid Nadiawala’s last production “Baaghi” which opened to Rs 11.76 crores and Varun Dhawan’s last solo hero film “ABCD 2” which opened to Rs 14.28 crores. “Dishoom” did well in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh but was better in multiplexes of Mumbai, Punjab , Delhi and UP. Considering the early estimate, “Dishoom” will be the 6th highest opening of 2016 after the following films :-
- Sultan : Rs 36.54 Crore
- Fan : Rs 19.2 Crore
- Housefull 3: Rs 15.21 Crore
- Airlift: Rs 12.35 Crore
- Baaghi : Rs 11.94 Crores
The budget of “Dishoom” is Rs 65 crores (Production cost is Rs 45 crores and Printing&Cost is Rs 20 crores)
