Box Office – Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 to be in Top-20 before close of 2015
Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 has done very well at the Box Office. If the weekend trend was fantastic, what unfolded during the weekdays was all the more exciting. The film never stayed on course from Mondayto Wednesday and though there was a dip in collections on Thursday, it was mainly due to the mega release of Shandaar which took over a large number of screens. Still, the film managed a very good total of 37 crore* which means it is already a SOLID HIT and now just raking in profits.
The film has benefitted from the loyal fans of Pyaar Ka Punchnama and this time around women have given it a green signal as well, due to which there are good footfalls day after day. Moreover, the film is fetching repeat audience as well which would help it in the second week once Shandaar euphoria settles down. The film is all set to cross the 50 crore mark which would be fantabulous for an almost new team that director Luv Ranjan has brought together for the sequel.
Pyaar Ka Punchnama now also gains the credentials for being in Top-15 films of the year as far as the opening week numbers go. This is huge indeed when 2015 is in its 10th month and only five more films (Shaandaar, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Tamasha, Bajirao Mastani, Dilwale) are expected to score a better first week before the close of year. For a film belonging to this genre as well as an ‘A’ certificate, and still manage a standing in Top-20 is a huge feat indeed.
As for Wedding Pullav, it has turned out to be a mega-disaster with collections failing to touch even the 1 crore mark. Chinar Daastaan-E-Ishq, Hogaya Dimaagh Ka Dahi, Bumper Draw, Operation Green Hunt and Jaatiwad have all been non-starters.
* Final numbers awaited
