Box Office – ABCD 2 shows drops, but still sustains to net 71 crore
After a fantastic weekend when a little over 46 crore came in, ABCD 2 went on to have fine collections during the weekdays as well. As a result, the first week’s billing of the Remo D’Souza directed film reads 71 crore. The film now enjoys the highest first week total of 2015 and also the biggest ever for Varun Dhawan, whose earlier best was Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya.
Still, the fact cannot be denied that the film did start dropping over the weekdays, after a good Monday which had held well. From Tuesday onwards, the film did show dip, though not alarming enough to threaten the 100 crore march. The film would still enter the 100 crore club, but just about. This can be seen from the fact that the first week’s total is just 1 crore over Tanu Weds Manu Returns (70 crore) which had a much lower weekend of 38 crore. Also, for Shraddha Kapoor too, ABCD 2 is her second highest week since her Ek Villain had netted 77 crore (which then ended its run at the 106 crore mark).
A huge opening and now an open second week would do the trick for ABCD 2. Also, for a film that had received average to good reviews, a 100 crore mark is still a good number, and most importantly a welcome news for Bollywood which is now closing the first half of 2015 with a smile.
