Actor Boman Irani who plays a pivotal role in Rajkumar Hirani’s PK feels that people should respect their
(filmmakers’) viewpoint just like how they respect the others’ view point. Elaborating on it he says,
“People may agree and may even disagree but then they have to respect it (the concept of ‘PK’) because
we are also respecting their view”. Ever since its release PK has been mired in controversies following its
controversial portrayal of Hindu Gods and Hinduism beliefs with right wing activists resorting to violence
to stop the screening of the film at various places all over the country. Boman also says that the film is
essentially a ‘thought provoking film’ and feels that ‘any film worth a debate is a good film’. Taking a
positive stance towards the adverse reactions of mischief makers, the actor claims that the controversy
has ‘engaged people into discussion over the sensitive issue as religion, god and godmen’.
Well Boman, Religion has always been a sensitive issue in our country. So if you have dared to choose
such a sensitive topic for your film, be prepared for the backlash!
