Mallika Sherawat Pointing to the Nation Well, The bold scenes, the Swayamvar was not enough for the controversial queen, Mallika grabbed the attention once again when she gave a provocative statement that India is a regressive country for a woman to live in. Her statement, “India is a hypocritical society where women are at the bottom… When I go back to India which is so regressive for women, it’s depressing. I became a fallen woman and a superstar at the same time because there is a moral code… I did everything that I was not supposed to do.
