A heartthrob of her times, Sharmila Tagore began her career as a Bengali film actress and got married to Mansoor Ali Khan, Nawab of Pataudi and ex-captain of the Indian cricket team. They got married in an Islamic wedding ceremony and the actress converted to Islam, with her new name being Begum Ayesha Sultana. Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan died in 2011.
