Someone Hacked And Defaced BJP’s Website With Modi Memes

Bharatiya Janata Party had to deal with a bit of a rude shock, as documented by many on social media, as they woke up to a news of cyber space intrusion, when according to many their official website got hacked.

The website had several memes featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. German Chancellor Angela Merkel walking past our PM Modi and ignoring him completely, as he tried to shake hands with her.

Several claimed that the website have clearly been hacked, after many reported this morning that the website is really going down. But, none claimed responsibility of this act.

The site has since been taken offline as it’s being fixed, but not before plenty of Twitter had the time to share screenshots. Aside from a Modi meme and a video of the Muppets singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen, was a simple message.

Opposition parties have jumped at the chance to troll the BJP online, while the party’s supporters are clearly outraged. BJP has yet to release an official statement regarding the hack.

No group has yet come forward to take responsibility for the incident. It is likely either a Pakistani hacker collective, or a disgruntled Indian one. They’re most probably civilians, and the act was in response to the recent Pulwama attack.

Minor websites of both Pakistani and Indian ownership have been defaced, hacked, encrypted, or any combination.

The particular incident is just the latest spark in a digital war that’s always going on behind the scenes, no matter the state of real life relations between both the two neighbouring countries.

It’s the ruling party’s national website, it’s possible the IT cell may be under added pressure to find the culprit.

Taking a jibe at this unfortunate event oppositions are trolling BJP. Aam Admi spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj tweeted ” The IT experts who claim EVMs can’t be hacked saw their party’s website hacked.

The website had several memes featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. German Chancellor Angela Merkel walking past our PM Modi and ignoring him completely, as he tried to shake hands with her.

After some time a message was published on the site, apologizing for inconvenience. It read “We will be back soon.. Sorry for the inconvenience, we’re performing some maintenance at the moment. We’ll be back online shortly!” – Web Admin”.
