Bigg Boss 18: Shehzada Dhami targets Chum Darang over her Ethnicity
Chum Darang, known for her role in *Badhaai Do*, was officially announced as a contestant on *Bigg Boss 18* during its grand premiere last night. This marks another instance of a contestant from Northeast India joining the popular reality show. While sharing the stage with the charismatic host Salman Khan, Chum expressed her desire to introduce her roots and culture to the audience. However, it seems her challenges began on the very first day.
Initially, Chum interacted warmly and honestly with her fellow contestants. However, tensions arose when Shehzada Dhami, Avinash Mishra, and Tejinder Singh Bagga began to mock her name and ethnicity. Shehzada made light of Chum’s name by repeatedly insisting it was simply “Chum,” while Avinash speculated that there must be a longer version. Despite her attempts to clarify by stating her full name, the mocking continued.
Additionally, Shehzada commented on the clear skin of people from East India, sharing his preference with Avinash. Unaware of the context, Chum innocently suggested that the healthy food from her region contributes to such skin quality. Once clips of the episode circulated, social media erupted, with netizens condemning Shehzada’s insensitive remarks while praising Chum for her resilience and composure.
Chum hails from Arunachal Pradesh and gained fame through her role as Bhumi Pednekar’s love interest in *Badhaai Do*, which also featured Rajkummar Rao. She further showcased her talent in *Gangubai Kathiawadi*, starring alongside Alia Bhatt. In addition to her acting career, Chum has also achieved recognition in various beauty pageants.
