Deepika Becomes Highest Paid Bollywood Actress But Still Far Away From Male Counterparts
Deepika Padukone has raised eyebrows of many female actresses and Bollywood producers, when she demanded a whooping price money of 15 Crores for her next film. Well, no producer could say no to her after seeing her back-to-back successful hit in ‘Piku’, ‘Tamasha’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
From last few years, female centric movie raking big money at the box-office, but still the pay disparity is the biggest problem in Bollywood. Deepika gets 15 crores and Salman Khan gets 60 crores for a movie. Now, you know that there is huge gap in terms of payment. The female actors are still getting minimum pay as compared to male actors. This is what lead to a big debate on pay disparity.
Once Vidya Balan said, “Remuneration has changed but if you compare it with what the men get it is still very different. But I would say let’s not compare it because just five per cent of these films are being made. I think we will get our due. We are slowly moving towards that.”
Just like Vidya Balan, Katrina Kaif said, “Indian cinema has come a long way. But one thing which has not changed is the remuneration for women. There is still a huge disparity. Let’s see what happens with that.”
During the starting phase of Indian Cinema, there was a time when Actresses use to rule the cinema. Their pay was more than the double as compared to male actors. Even in the 90’s Madhuri Dixit get good more, more than Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.
