Best supporting cast of 2024: Animal to Dunki

 

The 69th Hyundai Filmfare Awards celebrate exceptional performances in Bollywood, with the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) category featuring a diverse lineup of talent. Here are the nominees:


Aditya Rawal-Faraaz

Aditya Rawal delivered a gripping performance as Nibras, the conflicted leader of a terror attack in Hansal Mehta’s Faraaz. His portrayal balances menace and moments of humanity, highlighting the internal battle between ideology and morality. Aditya’s layered performance is a standout in this intense drama.


Anil Kapoor—Animal

Anil Kapoor impressed as Balbir Singh, a rich industrialist and emotionally distant father in Animal. His portrayal of a man grappling with his relationship with his son (played by Ranbir Kapoor) showcases his range and emotional depth. The dual appearance of Anil Kapoor as Kailash, his character’s body double, adds another dimension to his performance.


Bobby Deol, Animal

In Animal, Bobby Deol shines in the role of Abrar Haque, a mute antagonist seeking vengeance for his grandfather’s death. Despite limited screen time, his compelling and intense performance leaves a lasting impact.


Emraan Hashmi, Tiger 3

Emraan Hashmi brought complexity to Aatish Rehman, a former ISI agent turned antagonist in Tiger 3. His nuanced performance as a man seeking revenge against Tiger (Salman Khan) while grappling with personal loss makes him a strong contender.


Tota Roy Chowdhury—Royal Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani

Tota Roy Chowdhury’s portrayal of Chandon Chatterjee, a Kathak teacher and supportive father in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, earned him accolades. His graceful performance highlights a man pursuing his passion while being a loving and progressive father.


Vicky Kaushal, Dunki

Vicky Kaushal’s heartfelt performance as Sukhee in Dunki earned him the award. His character’s determination to learn English and emigrate to London for love resonated deeply with audiences. Vicky’s portrayal of a small-town boy with big dreams was equal parts humorous and poignant, cementing his win.

 


Each of these nominees brought their characters to life with exceptional skill, making this category a highlight of the awards season.
