Buzz of Disha Vakani making comeback to popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah have been rife for quite a long time now. She has been on a maternity leave since 2017 and haven’t cleared when she’ll resume shooting. A piece of news coming in states that the makes of the show has decided to replace Disha Vakani and started hunting for the new face for Dayaben.
Earlier, a report in TOI suggested that Ami Trivedi who is known for her role “Kokila” in popular comedy sitcom Papad Pol has been approached to play the part of Dayaben on TMKOC. On being inquired about the same, actress said “No, I have not been approached, but my friends have been telling me that I should take up the role and would suit the character. I have not been offered the role, nor have the makers tried to reach me out.”
On being asked is she is interested in taking up Dayaben’s role, Ami said “It is a huge responsibility and would be difficult for any artist to fill into the big boots of Disha Vakani. I am sure any actor who replaces her would have to face bricks and stones at the beginning because Disha has been associated with Taarak Mehta… for 10 long years and the audience love her. I can’t comment on your question till the time I am approached the show. Once the makers offer me the role, I will be in a better position to talk.”
Producer of the show- Asit Modi has mentioned in his recent interview that they are in talks with other popular actors for the character but they are still open to the possibility of Disha making comeback to the show.
