There was a huge buzz surrounding Abhishek Varman’s ambitious period drama Kalank, it didn’t manage to do on critical as well as commercial level. It became the biggest opener of the year, courtesy the loyal fans of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt and Madhuri Dixit. In the first week, Kalank earned around Rs 66 crore which is far below the expectations.
At a recent event, Alia Bhatt was asked about the underwhelming performances of Kalank at the box office. “Analyse toh main nahi karungi because I think that’s something that is not required. Janta ki adalat sabse badi adalat hoti hai,” she said.
The actress added, “When the audience does not accept a film, then the film should not do well. That’s just the way it is aur humein yeh bas accept karke aage se try and come back and make sure that you all are not disappointed next time,”.
Alia always addressed questions asked by the media and she once again did it, quite patiently. Talking about the failure of the movie to engage the audience as it was slow paced. Although this period didn’t work out well, Alia has an interesting line up of movies ahead, which may turn out to be box office blockbusters.
