Akshay Kumar dances to the tune of four different choreographers in Prabhudheva’s Singh Is Bliing

Three years after their biggest commercial success together, Rowdy Rathore, Akshay Kumar and Prabhudheva are coming back on the big screen with Singh Is Bling. While for Akshay, this is his fourth release of the year after Baby, Gabbar Is Back and Brothers, for Prabhudheva it his first film of 2015 with Action Jackson being the story of the past. For the filmmaker who has time and again delivered a ‘masala’ outing, Singh Is Bliing is a feel-good offering that is pitched as a family entertainer no less. Meanwhile, what stays consistent is the dance element, something that has traditionally been the hallmark of his films.

No wonder, it is pretty apparent that Akshay Kumar has danced like never before in the film.

“Well, there are four music directors who have done the songs and they have given their best. Be it Sneha Khanwalkar, Manj Musik, Sajid-Wajid or Meet Bros Anjjan, each one of them has given such wonderful songs. To choreograph their different styles, we have roped in four choreographers – Chinni Prakash sir, Bosco Ceaser, Vishnudeva and Ganesh Acharya. They all are well known choreographers  with their own style, so that has to show on screen,” says Prabhudheva.

That said, it is also apparent that there is a distinct Prabhudheva touch in each of the songs. Is that a conscious move?

“Guess these choreographers share my mindset,” the soft spoken director smiles, “Also, since I am the director, somewhere my touch is bound to be visible.”

Meanwhile, Singh is Bliing looks like a huge comic entertainer all the way. Is that the kind of theme which is present throughout the film?

“That’s correct, but then there are emotions in there also, albeit very lightly, he smiles, “There is message in there too that one must be focused in life. Akshay’s character is shown as someone who time and again leaves things half way. This is the reason why he is asked to focus by everyone who loves him and cares for him.”

One such person in the film is Amy Jackson, right?

“Of course, since it is a romantic film,” says Prabhudheva, “In fact, Akshay’s character becomes focused because of Amy who comes in his life. It is their love story and how Akshay wins Amy’s heart while also making his father proud which is the mainstay of Singh Is Bliing.”
