Release date plays a very crucial part in the box office success of any film, which is why every producer looks to book the best release date for their upcoming film. If a film is releasing on the festival, it emerges as a blockbuster. However, festival dates are almost fixed for big superstars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan.
Salman has been releasing films on Eid for quite some time. Films like Dabangg, Bodyguard, Kick, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan released on Eid and all emerged as blockbusters. No one really dares to release any film on Eid. However, it is soon going to change.
There was no official announcement of Salman releasing any film on Eid next year. Looking at the opportunity, Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar announced the release of their next big-budget film Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role on Eid 2020. It was also reported that Akshay also called up Salman to discuss the same. They decided to release their film on Eid next year only after getting Salman’s approval.
However, everything is about to change now. As you may know, Salman Khan is collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt for the upcoming film. Salman and Alia will be sharing screen space for the first time in Bhansali’s next Inshallah. Now, reports suggest that the movie will release on Eid next year meaning it will clash with Sooryavanshi.
This means Eid 2020 is going to see one of the biggest box office clashes of Bollywood. After all, it is not very often when two top Bollywood stars release their films on the same day. Fans of both superstars will set the box office on fire. But producers will have to bear some loses, as the business would be divided.
