Celebrating its 50th anniversary, one of the biggest production houses of the Hindi film Industry, Yash Raj Films, is currently working on many big-budget movies featuring nearly all the top Bollywood celebrities to mark its glorious journey in film making. Where YRF is reported to have sealed the budget for ‘Tiger’ franchise, making it one of the highest budget movies of the Hindi cinema, the production house, as per reports, has also allocated INR 180 crore for Ajay Devgn’s next superhero saga where he will be seen in a super-villian avatar opposite Ahaan Pandey.
Where YRF is all set to bankroll this universe of superheroes and villains, the movie will be helmed by debutant Shiv Rawail.
Talking about the budget of the movie an industry insider revealed, “Being a superhero film, YRF has allotted Rs. 90 crores budget to the cost of production of the film in addition to the print and publicity expenditure and Ajay Devgn’s acting fees. Taking a tentative figure for both the expenses, the approx. budget of the film will come closer to the Rs. 180 crore mark, which is also among the costliest film for Ajay Devgn till date.”
The film is planned as a franchise with Ahaan playing a superhero whereas Ajay will be seen playing super villain for the very first time on big screen. “It’s a template like Dhoom, however in the superhero universe. The character of baddie will be like a hero in the franchise, and more like a central character in every film. The franchise is also a long term launch plan for Ahaan, making it the most expensive and extensive launch till date in Hindi film history. Ajay’s character is said to be fantastic with phenomenal action, acting and screen time,” the insider further added.
As the movie is made keeping the upcoming sequels the first part will be more of an origin story, and the character of the superhero will be seen evolving and growing stronger with every passing film. “Ajay’s track is not that of a quintessential villain, but has several shades to it, which made it exciting for the actor to sign on. In-fact, when Adi approached Ajay with the film, he just couldn’t say a ‘no’.”
The official announcement of Aditya Chopra’s production made under Shiv Rawail directorial is expected to be made on September 27. As the date is close the fans couldn’t wait to hear the big communiqué by the makers.
