Ajay Devgan is an accomplished actor in Bollywood. He is also known for his successful production house. Starting his career in 1991 with the film Phool Aur Kaante, he climbed the ladder to success and became one of the leading actors honored with Padma Shri, an Indian civilian award. He married Kajol who is also an accomplished actress of Bollywood.
Ajay’s real name is Vishal Devgan. He was born on 2 April 1069 in Delhi in a Punjabi family originally belonging to Amritsar. The family settled in Mumbai as both his parents were working in the film industry. His father was a stunt choreographer and his wife a film producer. He studied in Silver Beach High school in Juhu Mumbai and later in Mithibai College. Ajay was a teenager when he worked in the movie Pyaari Behna in 1985. He later made his official debut as the leading actor with the film Phool Aur Kante in 1991. He won the Film fare best debut award that year. For the next five years, he did not get any success with films until the film Vijaypath happened in 1994. As a blind rebel, he excelled in his role. In Gundaraaj, he was paired with actress Kajol for the first time who would later become his wife. Ajay belonged to the league of actors who are known for their roles rather than the films they chose. He has mostly played rebel roles in his career initially. He was not the apt romance hero of the time but he has proved his versatility in potential roles time and again. Diljale, Major Saab, Dilwale, Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha are few of his many hit films for which he is remembered. Hindustan ki Kasam, Kacche Dhaage and Deewane are other of his impactful roles. One of his most loved roles came in the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 2000 for which he won many awards.
After his marriage to actress Kajol in 1998, Ajay Devgan started his own production house with the first film Raju Chacha. Gangajal, Khakee, Yuva, Raincoat, Main Aisa Hi Hoon, Apaharan, Omkara, Sunday are the hits he delivered in the later part of his career. Later he was seen doing many comic films such the Golmal franchise films, Bol Bachchan and Himmatwala. As a producer he has delivered hits like Son of Sardar, Singham Returns and Shivaay. He is popular in the role of Bajirao Singham in the movie Singham.
Ajay Devgan has two children Niyasa and a son. He is known for his no nonsense and tongue in cheek attitude.
