After 43 years film “Sholay” is again in the fame with new twist
“Sholay” is the one of the most iconic film of the era. It broke all the records and won 60 golden jubilees across India, and was the first film in India to celebrate a silver jubilee at over 100 theatres. Sholay was the Indian film with the longest theatrical run until Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) broke its record of 286 weeks in 2001. Most if the time it had received Best Film award of the year.
Certain scenes and dialogues from the film earned iconic status in India, such as “Kitne aadmi the?” “Jo dar gaya, samjho mar gaya” , “Bahut yaarana laagta hai”, “Beta Sojao warna gabbar aajayega” and lot more. Even after this movie Best friends were indicated by “Jay Veeru ki Jodi.”
After 43 years later Director Ramesh Sippy revelled, the movie ending was shoot different were Gabbar was killed by Thakur itself but this ending was changed by Censor Board They were not happy about Thakur killing Gabbar with his feet. He was also caught in a sticky situation… how else would Thakur kill him? He couldn’t have used a gun since he had no arms.
They were also unhappy about too much violence… they said ‘you have to change the end’. They also shared their experience with sensor board before releasing the film. They had to recreate and shoot the ending and also had to cut many violence since in the movie.
