Aditya Chopra Opens Up About His Equation With Shahrukh Khan Like Never Before

Writer and filmmaker Samar Khan is ready to launch his book on Shah Rukh Khan. The book is titled ‘SRK 25 Years of A Life’ which is based on life and times of King Khan. He has known SRK since past two decades while meeting at the sets of the film called Babu Desi Mem and they have been friends ever since. It took Samar 4 years to complete this book. The specialty of the book is that all directors of SRK have spoken and revealed a lot of details about him in it. The idea of the book as per the author is to show why different filmmakers cast Shah Rukh Khan in their different films. The variety of roles created by them for the actor made Samar take up the venture of writing down a book. In fact, he has also made a documentary on this called Living with a Superstar wherein he was seen sharing every piece he has done so far in his life along with culmination of the different character. Samar has even interviewed a number of directors. In excerpts from the book, we got our hands on Aditya Chopra's take on SRK which is truly unmissable. Aditya Chopra said that SRK wasn't the first choice for the movie 'Darr'. "my relationship with Shah Rukh has also evolved over the last two decades. When we cast him for Darr, to be honest, neither dad nor I really liked him." to that he also added , “Neither of us were very impressed ( by him) but somehow, maybe because everyone kept rejecting the negative part, we ended up signing him". Later, when Darr turned out well for Shahrukh, Aditya added "Our first shot with him was the Holi song. I think that very day itself, I knew that this man was going to be a superstar. He had a strange kind of madness in his eyes that were very exciting. I was the first assistant director on Darr". As we know the bond between the Aditya Chopra and SRK is something to cherish, what he said about SRK proves that he understands King Khan like no one else. Here's what he said "Over the years, as a producer, a director, and a friend, I have seen Shah Rukh perform multiple characters and portray all kinds of emotions. But I’ve always felt, and still feel that Shah Rukh doesn’t laugh whole-heartedly. His laughter never reaches his eyes. Somehow, it’s always a bit hollow, a bit fake. I think that maybe that has something to do with the fact that he lost his parents very early in life. I don’t think he ever got over that loss." He also believes that Shahrukh has a lot of potential as an actor, and is called King Khan for a reason. "As an actor, I think he is the best actor in the whole world and that we’ve seen only 10 percent of his talent. That 90 percent is still to come and blow us away." He ended on a note saying "As a filmmaker and a friend, I hope that soon, he is offered roles that tap into the remaining 90 per cent. l hope I can give him roles that tell the world, ‘’You’ve seen Shah Rukh the superstar, now see Shah Rukh the actor." As we know this friendship is something to be cherished forever, we hope to see the duo working together soon.
