‘Casting Couch’ has been taboo topic for really long time. Earlier we reported what are the views of Ileana D’Cruz about casting couch. The another name joining the bandwagon is Bollywood actress- Raima Sen.
While interacting with media, Raima Sen said that if someone thinks that sleeping with a director will get them a film, then they are going all wrong. She went up on saying that there is no short cut to success. She was quoted saying-
“You see, these things depend on an individual. One should realize and accept the fact that there is no short cut to success. If you think that you can sleep with a director and get a film, well, it doesn’t ever work like that. If you have talent and you have a backup plan, it’s great. But, if you don’t have talent and you just resort to these measures, then obviously you don’t have any faith in yourself.”
Raima also said that the young actor who hails from film family background are mostly the ones who fall for such gimmicks. She said-
“Maybe these newcomers don’t know how things work. They need to know the system. Maybe they think that’s what they are supposed to do, but getting sexually exploited is not the way and it has never been the way.”
On being asked that does she ever felt that her family status protected her, to which she said ‘Yes’ and expressed that she is lucky that she didn’t have to face such harassment.
“Yeah, it has definitely saved me and my sister [actor Riya Sen]. But casting couch exists everywhere, not just in the film industry. I have never fallen into such a trap, thankfully.”
