Actors Who Made A Transition From The Telly World To Bollywood!

Entering the Bollywood industry without being a starkid is quite a struggle. But there are many celebs who have made a mark in the industry despite not having a filmy family background. Some actors started off their career as television actors and later made it big for themselves in the B-Town. Here we present you a list of the stars who were television actors before becoming a Bollywood superstar : 1. Vidya Balan Vidya Balan started off her career when she was 16 in a famous Indian sitcom Hum Paanch playing the role of Radhika. She made her debut in Bollywood with the movie Parineeta and later on acted in movies like Lage Raho Munnabhai, Bhool Bhulaiya, Dirty Picture, No One Killed Jessica, Kahaani and Te3n. She has done a commendable job in all her ventures, be it on television or Bollywood. She is considered as one of the top actresses in the tinsel town. 2. Shah Rukh Khan The King Khan of Bollywood also started his career as a television actor. He starred in the serial Fauji and portrayed the lead character of Abhimanyu Rai. He also appeared in Aziz Mirza's Circus and Mani Kaul's mini series, Idiot. He also played minor roles in Umeed, Wagle Ki Duniya and the English television film In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones. He made his Bollywood debut in Hema Malini's directorial debut, Dil Aashna Hai. And as of now, there is not a single cinefan who doesn't know how big Shah Rukh Khan has made it for himself. He is considered as the King Khan of Bollywood. This clearly shows how immensely talented and hard working is our King Khan. 3. Sushant Singh Rajput Sushant Singh Rajput started his career with television serials. His most powerful performance was in the serial Pavitra Rishta which made him a popular face in India. He made his first Bollywood appearance in Kai Po Chhe! He received critical acclaim for his marvellous performance in the film. He also starred in Shuddh Desi Romance, Detective Byomkesh Bakshi! and PK. His performances have always been appreciated by the audience. Very soon, he will be seen in Neeraj Pandey's M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story. 4. Prachi Desai The lovely Prachi Desai started her career as the lead actress in the television serial Kasamh Se on Zee Tv. She made her Bollywood debut in the film Rock On!! in 2008. She also appeared in movies like Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, Bol Bachchan, Life Partner and the latest being Azhar. 5. Rajpal Yadav Rajpal Yadav started his career on television with Mungeri Ke Bhai Naurangilal which aired on Doordarshan. As of now, he is known for his comic timing and has gained recognition from the films like Waqt : The Race Against Time, Chup Chup Ke, Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri and many more. 6. R. Madhavan Madhavan began his acting career with television serials like Banegi Apni Baat, Ghar Jamai, and Tol Mol Ke Bol. He gained recognition in the Tamil film industry through Mani Ratnam's Alaipayuthey. He also starred in Bollywood films like Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, 3 Idiots, Rang De Basanti, Tanu Weds Manu and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. He is a critically acclaimed actor who has achieved great heights in Tollywood and Bollywood as well. He is considered as a romantic hero because of his notable romantic performances on screen. 7. Rajeev Khandelwal Rajeev Khandelwal made his first appearance in the thriller television series Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat. Thereafter he portrayed the lead role in Kahiin To Hoga. This television serial made him a popular face and he gained a lot of appreciation for it. He also starred in shows like Left Right Left, Time Bomb 9/11 and Sun Leyna. He made his debut in Bollywood in the film Aamir which was appreciated a lot by the audience and the critics as well. Pankaj Kapur Pankaj Kapur graduated from National School Of Drama after which he did theatre for four years. He acted in many television serials which include Mohandas B.A.L.L.B, Wah Bhai Wah, Sahabji Biwiji Ghulamji, Drishtanth, Kanak Di Balli, Albert's Bridge and Panchvan Savaar. He made his first Bollywood appearance in the film Arohan by Shyam Benegal. He is one of the most popular actors in the industry. 9. Irrfan Khan Irrfan started his acting career by starring in television serials like Bharat Ek Khoj, Sara Jahan Humara, Banegi Apni Baat, Chandrakanta and Sparsh. He portrayed a negative role in the series Darr and appeared on Star Plus in Ek Sham Ki Mulakat and Kahkashan. His first Bollywood lead role was in the film Rog in 2005. Since then he hasn't looked back. His performances have been praised by the audience and the critics as well. He has won many accolades for his work and has also been awarded the Padma Shri, in 2011, for his contribution to the field of arts.
