Ongoing lockdown situation is affecting the film industry on a large scale. Several films are ready for release, while shooting of many films are on hold. There is hundreds of crores invested on films and producers have already started looking for alternatives to it. Sources close to industry have informed that Anurag Basu’s ‘Ludo’ may get released directly on OTT platform.
Multi starrer film Ludo has Bhushan Kumar and T-Series as the producer and initial talks have begun with the web streaming giants. A source informed, “The film is almost ready for release and it was in fact supposed to hit the theatres in April 2020. Due to lockdown, everything got stalled.”
He added, “Bhushan Kumar is currently in talks with two digital giants to release a few of his films online. Once the monies are agreed upon, Ludo will be one of the first films from the banner that will be released on the web. Currently, it’s all in discussion stage and the modalities are being worked out.”
Ludo stars Abhishek Bachchan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Rajkummar Rao, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra and others.
Source also said that films made with small budget have this liberty to get a release on OTT platforms as it will generate revenue from it. But if the budget of the film is high, film won’t get the money what is invested in it.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar starrer Laxmmi Bomb and Janhvi Kapoor’s Gunjan Saxena will hit the web platforms very soon. Industry sources are also buzzing that Salman Khan’s ‘Radhe – Your Most Wanted Bhai’ also may get a direct OTT release.
