Abandoned By Family, Pakeezah Actress Geeta Kapoor Passed Away At 67
Veteran actress Geeta Kapoor, who rose to fame for her role in iconic Bollywood film Pakeezah passed away in an old age home in Mumbai in the morning of May 26. The 67-year-old actress was living in an old age home since she was abandoned by her son and daughter in 2017.
The veteran actress breathed her last waiting to see her children one last time. Her friend Ashok Pandit tweeted, “Heartbreaking! ‘Pakeezah’ actress Geeta Kapoor passes away after waiting to see her children one last time,”
The actress has worked in more than 100 films as supporting roles. Some of the best works of the actress include Pakeezah and Razia Sultan.
Since her children abandoned her, Bollywood film producer Ramesh Taurani and Ashok Pandit had been taking caring of the ailing actress by paying her medical bills. Her son Raja is a choreographer, whereas her daughter Pooja is an air hostess.
Geeta Kapoor was abandoned by her kids in May 2017 at the SRV hospital, Goregaon. She was later shifted to Jeevan Asha old age home by Pandit and Taurani.
The actress waited to see her son ever since then, but they never came back. Her health was deteriorating with every passing day and finally, she passed away on Saturday.
The body of the actress will be kept at the Cooper Hospital Morgue. The funeral is expected to take place on Monday with the hope that her children would come for the last rites.
Pandit tweeted, “Her body will be kept at Cooper Hospital, Vile Parle for two days hoping her children to come and at least do the last rites. Otherwise, we will do our best to bid her a dignified goodbye,”
