The 90th Academy Awards which took place today, paid a heartfelt tribute to late Bollywood icon Shashi Kapoor and Sridevi, in the ‘Memoriam’ montage, for their contribution to the world cinema. Along with the Bollywood icons, actors like Roger Moore, Mary Goldberg Johan Johansson, John Heard and Sam Shephard, too were paid tribute. Lead vocalist Eddie Vedder from American rock band Pearl Jam performed Tom Petty’s Room At The Top during In Memoriam montage.
Actress Sridevi who started her acting career at the age of 4 breathed her last on 24th February, 2018 in Dubai. As per reports the Hawaa Hawaai actress accidentally drowned in her hotel bathtub. While the handsome Shashi Kapoor died at the age of 79 due to illness in December 2017. Both the veteran actors were Padma awardees and were cremated with state honours.
Bollywood actors like Rishi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Vidya Balan, Arjun Rampal and Farha Khan thanked the Academy of Motions Pictures Arts and Science for paying tributes to our very own Indian actors.
