Fitoor / Sanam Re: Movie Review
Fitoor
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and Bollywood has more than one romantic movie to offer today. Abhishek Kapoor’s much-awaited movie Fitoor hits screens today. Fitoor, which is based on Charles Dickens’ classic novel Great Expectations, stars actors Tabu, Aditya Roy Kapur and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.
In FITOOR, Katrina and Aditya play Noor and Firdaus, the Desi version of Estella And Pip. Tabu is cast as Begum, The Indian Miss Havisham. A majority of film has been shot in Picturesque Kashmir.
They get together, move apart and then come back together again. However, they leave the viewers rather cold and unconcerned despite mouthing some seemingly passionate lines like “Khud se azaad ya to maut karti hai ya ishq (You can get liberation from the self either through death or love)”. Fitoor wants desperately to be a grand, epic romance but depends way too much on its stunning Kashmir canvas to achieve that than characters and story that you can empathise with.
